Durability Proven with 3000-Hour Salt Spray Test

Reliability in energy solutions depends not only on strong engineering designs but also on the long-term durability of the materials used. The quality of materials is of great importance for products to operate in the field without problems for many years. Durable materials provide longer protection against external factors and ensure consistent system performance. Therefore, in addition to engineering, the long-term durability of selected materials is one of the fundamental elements of reliability.

In this context, our steel sheet samples coated with electrostatic powder paint were subjected to a 3000-hour salt spray test (Salt Spray Test) in an accredited laboratory in accordance with ISO 9227 standard, to measure corrosion resistance.
What is the ISO 9227 Standard?

ISO 9227 is an internationally recognized test method developed to measure the corrosion resistance of coated surfaces. In this test, samples are continuously exposed to high humidity and salt concentration in a salt spray chamber for a specified period of time. It is particularly preferred for simulating aggressive conditions such as:
  • Coastal facilities (high salinity and humidity),
  • Industrial zones (acid rain, chemical gases),
  • Geographies with heavy rainfall.
Products tested in accordance with this standard provide strong evidence of long-term reliability in real-life applications.

Test Application
  • Sample: Steel sheet with standard PE electrostatic powder coating
  • Test Duration: 3000 hours of continuous salt spray with 5% NaCl solution
  • Applied Standards:
    • EN ISO 9227 (salt spray)
    • EN ISO 2178 (coating thickness)
    • EN ISO 2409 (adhesion test)
    • EN ISO 4628 series (blistering, rusting, cracking, flaking evaluations)
Within this scope, coating thickness, surface adhesion strength, corrosion progress around scratches, and possible deformations on the surface were evaluated.

Results Obtained
  • Blistering, rusting, cracking, and flaking levels: S0 (best level – no defects)
  • Corrosion progress around scratches: Maximum 1.7 mm (limit ≤ 2 mm)
  • Adhesion test result: Class 0 (highest durability – no weakness at the paint/metal interface)
  • Coating thickness: 93–96 µm

Table

All tested samples were found successful. No unexpected issues occurred during the test, and the report was finalized with the approval of the accredited laboratory.

Why Is It Important for TEKSAN?

This 3000-hour test demonstrates that our products can be used safely for many years under harsh climatic and environmental conditions.

Samples that passed the salt spray test prove that TEKSAN generators maintain their reliability in all environments, from coastal areas to industrial facilities, from challenging geographies to regions with heavy rainfall.
As a brand that proves quality not only in production but also through independent testing, we reinforce customer trust with long-term durability. The 3000-hour salt spray test reveals that TEKSAN generators stand out not only with their engineering strength but also with their environmental resistance.
